Orphanage project getting a coat of paint...

The work is well on the way with the painting inside and out. With the paint gun that was donated it makes the job go much quicker. Trim will be in white and a burn orange.

First day in the field.

Here is a picture of the team from Winkler along with myself, Pastor Placide and Nel. We are on top of the orphange and just above Henry's hat is the mountain in the background where our Chabin school is located. Everyone is doing great....

Arrived in Jacmel Tuesday night

Just a short note to say the team arrived safe and are settled into the mission house in Jacmel. Watch for pictures and updates.....

GMC TO HAITI ON SHORT TERM MISSION TRIP

Henry and his team from Winkler will be travelling to Haiti with me on Monday arriving Tuesday the 20th. Some of the team is staying 2 weeks, others 3 weeks and two of the girls will be staying 2 mons. helping at our orphanage. We return on the 11th of Nov.
Most of the work will be done at the orphanage needing some finishing touches with painting and some construction.

We still have need for babies cloths and for children up to the age of 5.

****_We are in need of school books for 800 of the children. Cost is $6.50 for each child the books they will need for the whole school year._****

I will be speaking in Pangman and Ogama, Sask. on the 15th. of Nov.

I will be speaking in Neilberg, Sask. on the 22nd. of Nov.

I return to Haiti on the 30th of Nov. and have room for those interested in going on a short term mission trip. I return to Canada on the 15th of Dec. ... Contact me if your interested or if you have any questions....

City Soleil Tuesday 22nd. Sept.

City Soleil is where we opened a school in Jan./09 with 175 children. These are some pictures as we were driving through City Soleil to get to the school. This is still one of the most dangerous areas in Haiti. I do not take teams into this area. There is hope. Pictures show some of the housing in the area and a boy that met me along the street as I was walking to the school. We have 175 children waiting to start school but we have not been able to open it for this school term as we don't have the funds to buy the books as yet. We only need $1020. for all the books for all the students. We are in the same situation at 4 other school locations. We can not open the schools till we have the funds for the books.. Diquini School/Church Tuesday 22nd.

Early Tuesday morning we were able to get to our Diquine location and City Soleil before my flight out to Canada.
These photo's show the construction of the Diquine school that is being sponsored by the Coastal Church in Vancouver. There are 300 children waiting to attend. One day we hope to build a second level and then we can double our attendance. This structure was designed and overlooked by a structural engineer. Before the children can attend we have to secure the building with steel bars on the windows and doors and desks for the children. They are still in our temporary location until we can open this location.. Thank you Pastor Dave and the Coastal Church... There will be pictures of some of the children from this location on one of my later posts.....

Children doing chores after school...

On Friday after school I met up with these girls from the Chabin region. I asked how far they had to go for the water and they pointed down to the river. It looks to be well over a mile with a very steep grade. They collected the wood along the way to make a fire to cook supper. Did you notice the girl on the right is not wearing shoes. The rocks here a sharp and lots of thorns on the trails. We have a huge need for shoes for the children.
The team left for home this morning. They were such a huge blessing to our staff and all the children.
I have staff meetings today and a funeral this afternoon. We will be going to some of our schools on Monday to take pictures of children that are needing sponsors. Tuesday before I fly out of PAP we will be going to our Diquinni school and City Solie school. We have to raise $1,020. for the books needed in City Solie before we can open the school. We are in the same situation in 4 of our other schools. Thank you to all that have helped make this labor of love possible......

Children receiving a hot meal is always such a joy. They get fed at the school every week day through the whole year. A view from the top of the mountain where the school is located. The river below is where they have to get their water when the spring is dry. They also carry the black sand up from the river in pails on their head to mix in the cement for construction. The next two pics. are of a couple of the workers from the area.

Work continues on constuction of our Savanette school

Construction is a huge challenge in a remote location such as Savanette. You will see the guys breaking larger rocks to make into gravel. Everything has to be carried up by people or mules. They are amazing workers and some of them make several trips up the mountain each day. Top picture is temporary shelter for school till construction is completed.

Children excited about the gift of food from the team and Kids Against Hunger

It is a huge miracle to have this food provided for our schools. This has prevented us from having to close some of the schools. Thank you Urban Refuge & Evergreen.
The first shipment I just found out will be 570,000 meals. This will get us through the first 6 mons. of the more than 4000 children attending our schools. We are hoping we will be able to raise more for the other 4000 plus children waiting. Thank you for making a difference.....

Team just before assent up to Savanette

The team took up over 3000 meals to our Savanette school. The first mile of the climb is just over 1200 ft. The first picture is of Pastor Chad and of a young guy that offered to help. His total weight must of been about 150 lbs. and he carried 130 lbs. on his head and back. It was amazing of his strength and endurance.
It was an amazing climb. The coconuts we had when we arrived at the school was a welcome sight. We were welcomed with singing by the 285 children from the school.

Carrefour Raymond and Chabin

Team went to see our Carfour Raymond school. School hasn't started there yet but many of the children came to see us. Construction has started on the foundation. There are 300 children hoping to attend this location and when the second level is built there will be 600 children. We then went up to Chabin and the team cooked up some food to feed the local people. Many happy faces and full tummy at the end of the day.
One of the pictures shows chad going through the suitcase taking out bags of food from Kids Against Hunger. The guys are carrying a propane tank up the steps for the kitchen. The girls receiving some food had to leave because they have a 3 hr. walk to get home. Can you imagine 6 hrs. a day of walking to school and back home. This is how much it means to them to get an education.

Monday tree planting

The team planted trees up at our Chabin location. There were Mango's, oranges, & lemon trees. This will be a huge help for the area for generations to come. Thank you team!!!
Today the team will be visiting our Carrefour Raymond School and then after lunch will be on Danny's property along the ocean where he will show them the vision of the development of this property for the orphanages, schools, medical center and more.

Sept.13/14 Updates Haiti

The team had a very full day today with going to Hector's tree nursery. This is one of the businesses we helped get going with our micro loan program. The team purchased 200 fruit trees to plant on our property in Chabin. WE then went to Chabin to meet the children at the school and plant the trees. The team got to spend some time with these precious children.....
