SOMETHING YOU DON'T SEE OFTEN IN HAITI

While in Port au Prince what seemed like 8 hrs. of driving we had the opportunity to go into a gated community. Yes, there are actually people of wealth in this nation.. Approx. 10 to 15% but not all with homes like the one on the top. Hard to believe these homes are in the same city..
God bless those missionaries that have been called to live in a city like PAP.. You are amazing. It takes hours to get anywhere.. I was sure glad to get back to Jamel tonight....
Thanks everyone ... Bob & Linda

The children should be able to move into their new building in January, thanks the Coastal Church in down town Vancouver, B.C. We have 300 children attending a temporary facility until the completion of the school/church.. A team from Coastal Church will be here to visit in March and put on a seminar for our Pasotrs introducing them to the Alpha Program..

CARREFOUR RAYMOND SCHOOL 150 CHILDREN

We were in Carrefour Raymond today.. This is our situation.. We have 150 children attending this school.. Our cost to operate this school is $1,521.00 per month, not counting the food and medicine.
We require 50 children to be sponsored to cover this cost at $1. per day.. Will you help save a life and sponsor a child or maybe your family or church will be able to sponsor the school yourself... Please drop me a note and make a difference ... one child at a time... This would be the best Christmas present for these precious children... Bob & Linda

BACK IN HAITI

I had a safe trip into Haiti. Safe travel is something I do not take for granted.. Thanks for your prayers... It is always great to see Pastor Wilbert and his family.. It was also great to see Rebecca and Joeann who have been here for nearly 2 months helping out at the orphanage.. They will go back to Canada with me on the 15th of Dec. arriving home on the 16th. On my way to Haiti I had meetings Monday morning in Edmonton with Marvin from Progressive Food, the Hendriks family and some of the men from a Colony from Manitoba.
We are working together to try to find ways to get more food into Haiti. With 400 children dying each day the need is huge.. Thanks to Kids Against Hunger and their partners Urban Refuge and Evergreen the goal is to get a million meals to our children here in Haiti. Prairie Gleaners out of Medicine Hat is dehydrating vegetable to be sent over to us in the next couple of month. Now with the possibility of connecting with Progressive foods, we will be able to turn these horrible statistics around. With the children and staff we have and the ones that are waiting we could be feeding 3,560,000 meals over the next 12 months. We are needing more people to partner with us to make an impact on these numbers... We don't just want to put a band aid on the situation.. With these numbers we are impacting the lives of just over 12,000 people.. The numbers that are starving here range in the area of 500,000... Will you help make a difference.. Please make your tax deductible donation to: Lifeline Haiti ... 1008 College Dr. SE, Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 7J1 ... Please drop me a note to: lifelinehaiti@gmail.com if your able to help. The children are waiting to hear from you.....

YMCA PEACEMAER AWARD/TRIP TO HAITI

Tonight we were honored by the YMCA in Medicine Hat for our contribution to the projects in Haiti. I received this on behalf of all of you that have helped to make a difference in the lives of the precious children of Haiti. Thank you for making a difference... one child at a time....

I leave for Haiti on Sunday the 29th and return on the 16th of Dec.

We need help in feeding the orphans in our orphanage in Jacmel. For only $600. per month we can feed all 27 children and the staff. Will you consider helping?

We would like to again this year put on a Christmas dinner for all our schools. Because the shortage in funds we are not able to do this.. Will you consider making a donation towards this?
We will need $2150.00 to feed all 4300 children and teachers as special turkey dinner.. You can make your cheque out to Lifeline Haiti and mail it to - 1008 College Dr SE, Medicine Hat, Ab. T1A 7J1 .... Drop me a message on my e-mail if you are able to help so we know in advance if we will be able to do this for the children... lifelinehaiti@gmail.com

PHOTO'S TAKEN FROM OUR BALCONY IN DOWN TOWN JACMEL

Here are two pictures taken from the balcony of our mission house in down town Jacmel. The other photo is from the same location a couple of evenings later with lightning in the background... Good shots Marcus...

MEETING WITH MAYOR AND POLICE CHIEF OF JACMEL

We had meetings with the Chief of Police of all the south of Haiti and the Mayor of Jacmel. In our discussion we talked about their desperate need of repairs to broken down equipment and the costs to repair. To fix the two ambulances with new motors in each would be about $14,000. for both vehicles and to get a fire truck operating would be about $1200.
I talked to the Police Chief of my background in firearms training and offered my assistance to his police force. He immediate response was when could I start, so we are going to have our first training session on Monday morning with 30 of his men. Interesting point is they have no ammunition to practice with. I will teach them how they can practice without ammunition. Perhaps we can find a few cases of .38 special, 9mm and shotgun shells for them to send from Canada....

VISIT TO THE LOAL FIRE DEPARTMENT

Visit to the local fire department in Jacmel found they are in desperate need of training and equipment.. The two ambulances do not work. Engines in both of them are ceased. There are 16 firemen that work combination Police and Firemen. You can see their gym for weightlifting, their bunks for the overnight shifts and one of the fire trucks is a 1957 vintage. The breaks do not work in this truck so they are down to one truck. You can see one of the firemen carrying a side arm as they can get called out on police matters at any time...... I see this as another way we an help to make it safer for the Firemen and the people of Jacmel to help in this area of need.....
