PLEASE DON'T FORGET ABOUT HAITI

From our family to yours...Merry Christmas....During this busy time of the year of shopping, travel and family time, please do not forget about the children of Haiti...

Before year end please consider making a donation to help the children of Haiti...Our needs are still huge....The pictures are of just a few of the children you are helping.... "Lifeline Haiti" c/o Bridges of Hope, PO Box 81 Stn. Main,
Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 3Y3..

Thank you to each of you for your support over the years....Without faithful people like yourselves this mission of love would not have been able to help in over 50 locations in Haiti.....There are thousands of children just like the ones in the photos above waiting for a lifeline....

Remember.....Jesus is the reason for the season.....

UPDATE DEC 16/2010

I just spoke with our Director of Operations in Haiti and he informs me of the good news that the cholera seems to be decreasing.... There are fewer and fewer people contracting cholera....We are so grateful that all of our children are safe and none of them have been sick...The sanitation program we run at our schools has proven to be effective to prevent the spread of this disease....Providing clean drinking water has also been key.....We are still looking at different options for water purification systems....The cholera will be in the country for many years to come... We must keep up the effort to getting clean drinking water into all areas of Haiti......Not allowing people to take their dead relatives to bury them has seemed to have made a difference also....As hard as it has been for the families to go through this they are now seeing the difference it is making.....

For those that were not able to see the segment on CBC Connect with Mark Kelley, you can see it on the net at the following address.....voting goes until the 10th of January......

Thank you to everyone for all your support...
There is still so much to do..

DESPERATE NEED FOR CLEAN WATER DEC.13/2010

THE SITUATION IS GETTING MORE DESPERATE EACH DAY.. WITH MORE THEN 100,000 PEOPLE INFECTED AND THOUSANDS THAT HAVE DIED THE SITUATION KEEPS GETTING WORSE WITH THE CHOLERA OUTBREAK.. ... THE ROADS HAVE BEEN BLOCKED COMING OUT OF PAP BECAUSE OF THE RIOTS WHICH HAS CAUSED THE SUPPLY OF FOOD TO BE AT AN EXTREME LOW....

I had put out a request for help for water purification systems that will help these
precious people.......I have found a supplier out of Jacksonville, Florida....
web site is....
www.aquavast.com... this will purify water of all diseases including Cholera..

This is a note I got from the company about one of the smaller systems....

I worked on some numbers for you regarding what the water will cost.
Depending your cost to get the system to Haiti and how much water you
have available to filter, at 50% of capacity or 1,314,000 gallons for
the first year your cost would be about $.01 per gallon. That would
fully amortize the initial cost of the unit ($10,000 FOB Jacksonville,
FL.) and installation in Haiti. After that at 50% capacity the cost
per gallon would drop to less than $.002 per gallon.
If the people can come to a central location and get
their water then a larger system could be used. AquaVast has built
systems with 20 gallons and 100 gallons per minute capacities. Those
systems would be need to be placed in a permanent installation. The
other problem would be the amount of water available. The water
source can be any non salt water regardless of how polluted it is.
The system will remove all bacteria and virus. The inventor is working
on systems that could use salt water, but they are not currently
available.

Thank you to those of you that have responded to our request for funds to buy these units...with shipping and installation we are looking at about $15,000 per unit...
To date I haven't found anything else that will produce the amount of water needed to help the 80,000 people that live close to our schools as this unit.....Most of our
schools are located in the remote mountain areas....The cost per gallon and the number
of gallons it will pump out each minute will be a big help.....There is also a
unit that has a submersible pump and a solar system to pump the water to feed this type of system in areas where we do not have electricity.....A unit like this would
be under $10,000.....

We desperately need to hear from you....Information to donate is on the home page of our blog for our friends in the United States and Canada.... BOB & Linda

UPDATE DEC.11/2010

I will be speaking in Assiniboia, Sask with Pastor Terry at the Apostolic Church Sunday morning.

Champions of Change update. CONNECT with Mark Kelly will be running a special about
each of the finalists Monday evening the 13th at 8 PM Eastern time on CBC. If you
have not had a chance to vote go to www.cbc.ca/change/vote2.html

CHOLERA OUTBREAK IN HAITI: REPORTS THAT I HAVE BEEN GETTING IS THAT IT IS GETTING WORSE EVERY DAY... OVER 100,000 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN INFECTED WITH HALF OF THEM IN HOSPITALS...THOUSANDS HAVE DIED... WHOLE FAMILIES OF 8 TO 10 ARE ALL IN THE HOSPITAL... THEY HAVE CLOSED THE BOARDER TO THE DOMINICAN AND FLIGHTS ARE GROUNDED FROM LEAVING HAITI..STILL TO DANGEROUS TO TRY TO ATTEMPT TO GET TO THE AIRPORT EVEN IF FLIGHTS WERE ABLE TO GO... MOST PEOPLE DIE WITHIN 2 TO 3 HRS. ONCE THEY ARE IN CONTACT WITH THE CHOLERA... IT IS MUCH MORE CONTAGIOUS THEN THE WORLD HEALTH HAD PREVIOUSLY PREDICTED...
THEY ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF INTRAVENOUS WATER AND CLEAN DRINKING WATER... ONE OF THE WAYS THEY ARE TRYING TO STOP THE SPREAD OF CHOLERA IS BY NOT ALLOWING THE FAMILIES TO TAKE THEIR DEAD RELATIVES TO BE BURIED...THIS PREVENTS THE FAMILY FROM contacting CHOLERA FROM THE DISEASED...THIS MAKES IT VERY HARD ON THE FAMILIES TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH NOT BEING ABLE TO GIVE THEIR RELATIVE A FAMILY BURIAL ... EMERGENCY SHELTERS HAVE BEEN BUILT IN MANY PLACES TO ACCOMMODATE AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE AS THE HOSPITALS ARE FILLED TO THE RAFTERS.... PEOPLE HAVE TO TAKE THEIR OWN BEDS AND BLANKETS TO THE HOSPITAL OR SHELTERS AS THEY HAVE RUN OUT OF SPACE, BEDS, BLANKETS AND HEALTH CARE WORKERS... WE KNOW OF SOME SCHOOLS THAT HAVE CLOSED AS SOME OF THE CHILDREN HAVE DIED OF CHOLERA THAT WEre ATTENDING THESE SCHOOLS.... NONE OF THESE SCHOOLS ARE ANY OF OUR locations.... WITH ALL THE RIOTING AND KILLINGS THE COUNTRY IS ON THE VERGE OF A CIVIL WAR...
PLEASE PRAY FOR HAITI, HER PEOPLE AND ALL THE RELIEF WORKERS THAT ARE RISKING THEIR LIVES TO BE THERE TO HELP THESE PRECIOUS PEOPLE... IT IS ONLY A SMALL PORTION OF THE 9,000,000 PEOPLE THAT ARE CAUSING SUCH DESTRUCTION ...

WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEMS UPDATE

Water purification systems are still needed...Received a report from New York with
the following information.....If you feel you can help with funds to purchase some
of these desperately needed water purification systems, please drop me an e-mail and
I will give you instructions how you can help....Check out their web site when you
get a chance...It works out to less than .02 cents per gallon of purified water...
This will save thousands of lives.....The cholera has spread to the south of Haiti
and we understand it is in all the rivers, streams and sea.....

A Better World is a New York-based organization which serves the public in a few different ways, from weekly educational, community radio and TV shows to offering high-quality products to support both health and the environment.
We are registered as a supplier to UNICEF and other United Nations Agencies. Our Vendor # is 187358.

We are pleased to now be offering what we feel are cost-effective solutions to providing clean water to the people of Haiti and other areas where clean water is scarce but much needed.

We are working with two Non Profit Agencies, Haitian People's Support Project (http://www.haitiansupportproject.org) and Lifeline Haiti (www.lifelinehaiti.com), in order to prevent Cholera in the schools and orphanages they operate throughout Haiti. Some rural locations do not have Medical Clinics in the event Cholera is diagnosed. Your purchase of a Water Filter on behalf of both Agencies is tax deductible.

Haitian People's Support Project started in 1990 and they have 14 locations providing services to 300 children. Lifeline Haiti started 2007 and have 51 locations providing services to 13,000 children. Both the Jerrycan and Personal Water Filter Bottle will eliminate bacteria, cysts, fungi, pesticides, heavy metals, parasites, viruses (including H1NI and Cholera) and all other microbiological water-borne contaminants and pathogens without the use of Chlorine, Iodine or any other chemicals. These represent a real breakthrough in portable, cost-efficient, water filtration technology.
